Short Bio
We are a hard working rock band with a wealth of experience under our belts. Featuring the Classic Rock line up of drums, bass and twin guitars with powerful vocals and backing to match, High Voltage is considered to be one of the most authentic sounding rock bands playing the Cornish gig circuit today. No venue too big or small really, HV will play anywhere they think people will enjoy the music from small town centre pubs to huge marquees and outdoor gigs at various Biker Rallies.
So, here we are, the end of another year and back where we belong. It's been a crazy time since we've been away and there was a time when we weren't coming back. But getting Brett & Stewart in has rekindled the Rock 'n' Rollercoaster and we're back on track. Our first gig back at The Old Ale House in Truro was a fantastic night made all the better by you guys coming and ramming the place !!! One in one out was in force all night and still you came ! Thank you so much for welcoming in us back into the Cornish rock scene fold, we've missed it and we didn't know how much, until that gig. Brett and Stewart are very worthy members of HV and it feels like we've been together for years. The buzz, camaraderie and connection we have is just refreshing and electric, you could say it's HIGH VOLTAGE !!!!! We have been in rehearsals for just a few weeks so the first gig was a bit of a mystery to us all, we had no need to worry, you made us relax and fall into the old rockin' style we've always had. We've maintained our trademark classic rock big wall of sound, as well as injecting some new enthusiasm for what we do. We have also introduced a dozen new songs to the set influenced by the whole band. With Brett and Stewart on board we have taken things to new levels, both are great musicians and both have fitted into their respective roles in the band fantastically, and after a period of us all settling in with the new line up, the feedback we received from our long standing supporters at the Ale House has been nothing but positive.
2022 will see us cutting down considerably on our 80+ gigs a year. Lockdown has given us time for our families and life outside the band which we'd like to continue doing as we head into our new venture. Don't worry, we'll still be out there with 50-ish gigs next year and we'll be playing our favourite venues with our favourite landlords(ladies) with the same enthusiasm we always have done.
Our final gig for 2021 will be at The Fist & Last Inn at Sennen in deepest Cornwall, the most southern pub in the UK. We’ll be kicking off around 9pm, and we promise not to play any Christmas songs as usual !!!!
To all the venues who have booked us for 2022, thank you. Over the years we have built up great working relationships with many landlords and landladies who book us year after year. It’s not always easy to put on live music these days, and with so many bands around and Covid rearing it's ugly head every now and then, we really appreciate the venues that book us given the choice on offer.
A huge thanks to everyone who has come to our gigs over the years, we really do appreciate your support. It was great to so many of you at our first gig with the new ,ine-up, you keep driving us on to keep doing it.
Finally, we have to thank our wives/partners who put up with us playing ‘Rock Stars’ at weekends! We know we’d probably only be under your feet at home and hog the TV remote, so I guess that’s something good that comes out of it for you!
Thanks again for all the support over the years and hopefully with the new line-up too.
We would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. See you in 2022 for more of the same!!
Cheers
